TIPS FOR STAYING SAFE
Going without anything for 40 hours – especially something you love – is gonna be tough. And if you’ve decided you want to give up food, then you may as well be prepared.GIVING UP FOOD? PLAY IT SAFE:
- Drink plenty of water, fruit juice or tea.
- Feel free to eat energy sweets (like barley sugars) occasionally.
- If you’re at primary school, please consider skipping food for only 8 hours.
- Talk to your parent or guardian if you have any existing health issues before participating.
- When you finish the 40 Hour Famine, ease your way back to normal eating by having something light and healthy, like a salad or fruit.
GIVING UP SOMETHING OTHER THAN FOOD?
We've had heaps people giving up things like furniture, eye sight and modern technology. They then love to ask us what the rules are.
Ultimately, this is a self-imposed challenge - so you can make this as hard, difficult and strict as you like - but please make sure you use common sense and stay safe.
hope this encourages more people to take part.
